Adult basic education (NT1)

I want to improve my reading and writing

Is Dutch your native language? Do you want to improve your reading and writing in Dutch? Then this course is for you.

This course teaches you to read and write up to level 1F or 2F (senior secondary vocational education, called MBO in Dutch). Adult basic education is taught at all levels. The basic level is learning to read and write, and the highest level prepares students for further education. Improving your reading and writing will make you more confident. It helps you at home and at work. The reading and writing course is classified as adult basic education.

Testing and finishing the course

The teacher will test your knowledge at the beginning and at the end of the course. If you pass the course, you will receive a certificate stating that you took part in the course, with an overview of your progress.

Fees
Do you live in a municipality in our region? If you do, you only have to pay part of the cost (your personal contribution) of the reading and writing course. You will be told the exact amount of this fee during the intake interview. The maximum is 100 euros per course per year. There is a map at the bottom of this page which shows the municipalities in our region.

I want to improve my maths

Maths is very important, both at work and in your daily life at home. This course teaches you basic maths skills. For example, addition, subtraction, multiplication and tables with train times. You also learn to calculate better with money. Keeping a book of household expenses, for example, shows you how much money is coming in and going out. The maths course is classified as adult basic education.

Dutch as a second language (NT2)

I want to learn Dutch as a second language

Is your native language not Dutch? Maybe you are from an EU country, and want to learn Dutch? Then this course is for you.

Curio organises Dutch as a second language (NT2) courses. These courses are for people living in the West Brabant region. They are organised on behalf of the West Brabant municipalities, and subsidised by the government. Various courses are available. For example, there is the literacy course for those who have to learn to read and write using the Latin alphabet. You can also improve your Dutch, and prepare for the state exam 1. After the NT2 course, you can go on to a senior secondary vocational course (called MBO in Dutch) after passing state exam 1. After an intake interview, we will decide your starting level. We will tell you which course is most suitable for you.

Fees
Are you already integrated into Dutch society? Or are you from a different European country? And do you live in the municipality of Woensdrecht, Bergen op Zoom, Steenbergen, Roosendaal, Moerdijk, Etten-Leur, Breda, Oosterhout, Rucphen, Zundert, Halderberge, Drimmelen, Geertruidenberg or Altena? Then you can follow subsidised courses. That means that you only pay part of the costs. We call the part you pay your personal contribution. You will be told the exact amount of this personal contribution during the intake interview. Your personal contribution is up to 100 euros per course. There is a map at the bottom of this page which shows the municipalities in our region.
