If you are not able to read and write in Dutch, you can follow a literacy course at Curio. During this course you will learn the basics of the Dutch language like the alphabet. This course is for status holders or family migrants who are required to become officially integrated (civic integration requirement).
This course is meant for status holders or family migrants who fall under the civic integration requirement from before 1-1-2022 and under the Civic Integration Act 2013.
Are you required to follow an integration course after 1-1-2022? The municipality will determine the school location.
Sign up for the course. After applying we will arrange an intake interview. During this interview we will check your level of Dutch by talking to each other.

You will learn to speak, listen, write and read Dutch. You will also learn about topics such as: health, school, spare time, living and working in the Netherlands.
During the course, you will complete practical assignments and exams. Your mentor will discuss your progress and assist you in applying for an extension or exemption.
The course prepares you for the mandatory components of the integration exam, such as reading, listening, writing, speaking and knowledge of Dutch society.
The cost of an integration course is €42 per session. The total cost of the course depends on how quickly you can complete it. You are responsible for paying the course and exam fees yourself. You can borrow money from DUO for this purpose. Read more about borrowing money from DUO here.
